OUR PROCESS
Challenge
Showroom retailing within a limited space
Danze wanted to pioneer its “Showroom of the Future” with a high tech, high-touch rebranding.
Upstart plumbing manufacturer Danze shook up the kitchen & bath marketplace with its U.S. debut. A playful, modern branding update gave Danze a fresh opportunity to draw attention to their innovative line of faucets and plumbing accessories.
The problem? Danze’s main retail outlets are in plumbing & home remodeling showrooms, where retailing space can be expensive.
There’s limited space for Danze to display its broad range of products, and showroom resellers are often distracted by other brands’ offerings and inconsistent sales tactics.
The savvy marketing team at Danze needed a creative solution — one that would let them highlight more products in a small space, interact with customers when sales staff isn’t physically present, and show off the creative and inspiring aspects of their updated brand & product line.
Solution
An IoT kiosk that interacts with real product samples
First of its kind to merge physical + digital retailing worlds.
EX Squared crafted an industry first: A fun, interactive touchscreen experience with large images and detailed information on hundreds of Danze products available at a tap. The kiosk fits right into Danze’s showroom walldisplays, with attractive design and videofeatures to attract people passing by. The digital kiosk features large product photos & renderings, visual search results and easy ways to quickly narrow choices by faucet style, finish color and more.
Here’s the Internet-of-Things twist. The smart shelf instantly recognizes the product (via a cleverly hidden RFID reader) and updates the kiosk display to let customers explore that product’s alternate finish color choices, photo slideshows, installation, use-and-care manuals, and more. It also suggests related products, for more consistent cross- and up-selling. The kiosk is even designed to work offline in cases where showrooms have poor Internet connectivity.
This self-serve solution engages potential customers until they’re ready to connect with showroom staff to complete the sale. It’s the perfect solution to Danze’s retailing needs.
RESULTS
EX Squared designed, developed and hosts the digital touchscreen kiosk software, installed in over 100 plumbing showrooms across the U.S. and Canada.
The innovative Showroom of the Future project garnered awards for Danze, and led to a companion iOS room-visualizing smartphone & tablet app, and a casino game for trade-show marketing.
By combining high-tech with high-touch, EX2 helped Danze successfully realize its vision for the Showroom of the Future.
